Aww. Wasn’t I cute?
“My Father’s Daughter” is the story of my life in rural America with my incredible dad and my emotionally abusive mother. Beginning in the 1940s, my journey took me on a tempestuous roller coaster ride that lasted into my adulthood, with more than a few bumps along the way. In 2018, I experienced the biggest jolt of all, which was the impetus for this book.

Easy reading but full of surprises. Not the idyllic tale that you would expect from a small town memoir. Everyone knows everyone but not everything. The author lays out her childhood in a series of delightful vignettes that anyone from this era can relate to and those that are not, wish they could. An excellent and insightful read, with a dash of suspense.
Her childhood was as I wish mine had been. It’s both happy and sad. But mostly happy. Her father was so selfless and kind. I wish he were mine.
Wow! I sat down this rainy day to start your book and I didn’t get up. Read it cover to cover. What a riveting story.
Wonderfully written and such a terrific testimony of a daughter’s love for her father.
This book will ring true for many people born in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Much of what was written can translate to the lives most of us lead in those years. It is written in such a way that it is entertaining and realistic. The entire book is detailed without becoming overwhelming. The ending is a surprise that made me say “Wow”. A compelling read start to finish. Carol’s writing style is a pleasure.
My Father’s Daughter was an incredible read. With so many references to World War II and both the 1950s and 60s made it very easy to relate to. The ending took me by surprise and helped solidify my opinion that the book would be a perfect vehicle for the Hallmark Channel to adapt or even Hollywood!
I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. The last few chapters had tears running down my face. A very relatable story to me as I grew up in the same era as the author. The story tells of a love of a couple dealing with many hardships and sticking together for a lifetime. I highly recommend this book.
